Imo Newspaper Editors Honour Minister’s Aide

Imo State based newspaper editors have honoured a renowned journalist, Mr. Sunny Onyeukwu.

Mr. Onyeukwu  was conferred with Media Ambassador Award by the newspaper and online editors based in Imo State.

The Forum during the award ceremony held in Owerri said it conferred  the award on  Mr. Onyeukwu, a Special Assistant to Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, for  proving  his mettle and contributed  to the growth of the journalism profession.

Chairman of the Forum, Eze Adiukwu, said the award was part of the oversight functions of the editors who carefully selected Mr. Onyeukwu for discharging himself creditably profession. He said the award is also a celebration of one  their own who has risen to become a top aide to Nigeria’s most performing Minister, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

In his remarks while receiving the award, Onyeukwu said he is elated that his professional colleagues in the pen profession considered him worthy for its Media ambassador award. He dedicated the award to President Muhammadu Buhari for giving his boss a major role in the APC led Federal Government by appointing him as  Minister of Science and Technology.

Mr. Onyeukwu called on the editors to continue to remain  committed to the tenets and ideals of the journalism profession.

In his speech, the Majority leader of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Lugard Osuji, commended the editors for considering  an astute journalist like Mr. Onyeukwu for the “Media Ambassador” award. He said Mr. Onyeukwu has paid his price in the journalism profession and truly deserved to be honoured.

The event attracted dignitaries from all walks of life.
