Abia Guber Tussle: Uche Oga Accepts Defeat, Congratulates Ikpeazu

L:R: Ikpeazu, Oga

Mr. Uche Oga has congratulated Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu on the affirmation of the latter’s election as Abia State governor by the Supreme Court.

The nation’s apex court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen Friday led a five man bench to uphold the Governor’s election after citing lack of merit for dismissing Uche Oga’s appeal.

Oga had won at the Federal High Court, Abuja but lost at the Court of Appeal. His appeal was also dismissed by the Supreme Court.

In a statement 24 hours after the judgment, he said he has accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court.

He urged all his supporters and the people of Abia state to support Ikpeazu as governor of Gods own State.

Oga, according to the statement, said though it was a painful verdict, “but as someone that believes in the rule of law and the judiciary, I have accepted the decision of the apex court in good faith”

He said he is exceedingly happy that in the cause of the struggle, he never resorted to self help nor encouraged his supporters to indulge in any form of violence in his state.

He thanked them for standing with him all through the entire journey. He also congratulated Dr. Ikpeazu and urged all Abians to join hands in supporting the governor in order to move the state forward.
