Nigeria’s voting population has reached 71 million.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu while receiving the Norwegian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr.Kjemprud.
According to a statement by the Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, the INEC boss said there were over 70 million registered voters presently on the voter register, with another 1,040,000 so far registered since the beginning of the CVR exercise on April 27, 2017.
He said INEC was working towards making the 2019 general election better than that of 2015. He disclosed INEC has registered 45 political parties while there are 103 pending applications.
