Imo State: Five House of Reps Members May Dump PDP After S/Court Ruling

If the pendulum of justice of the Supreme Court does not swing in favour of the five members of the House of Representatives representing various constituencies in Imo State, they may head to the All Progressive Congress, APC, the newspaper can authoritatively say.

The five Reps members (names withheld) had been in the news in the past as their possible defections from the PDP to the APC was widely reported by the local media.

The move was said to have been put on hold at that time especially  when legal fireworks between the Ahmed Makarfi and Ali Modu Sherrif factions in the PDP intensified in the law courts.

Nothing seems to have changed the plan as their waiting game is predicated on  the Supreme Court ruling which both factions in the PDP are waiting for with bathed breadth.

A source who is aware of the plan told this newspaper last night that  “the move is not a hidden one. It was in the news before now. And it has the backing of a serving senator from the state and the blessings of many critical stakeholders from both the PDP and the APC. The move was only shelved because we wanted the Supreme Court to completely exhaust the matter”

“The Reps members cannot afford to stay in opposition. They need to stay connected to the national grid and that is why most of them are waiting for the judgment to see if they will move out or not” he said.

Imo State is an APC state with a serving governor and majority members in the State House of Assembly.

The PDP have two senators while the APC has one.  It also has 12 House of Representatives members representing the 27 local governments in the House of Representatives.  It also has 10 representatives from the PDP and 2 from the All Progressive Congress, APC

Two are serving their second tenure in the lower legislative chambers. They are Hon. Jones Onyeriri, Chairman House Committee on Banking and Currency and Hon. Ezenwa Onyewuchi, Chairman House Committee on Labour and Employment.

The duo are die hard and staunch PDP members and have not been linked to any move to leave the opposition party.
