Nnanna Igbokwe representing Ahiazu/Ezinihittee Mbaise Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives when leaders and leading Traditional Rulers from Mbaise paid courtesy visit to the governor on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Govt. House, Owerri.

Hon. Ralpheal Nnanna Igbokwe, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, federal lawmaker that led some traditional rulers and stakeholders in  Mbaise nation on a solidarity visit to Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has said he led his kinsmen on the visit to say thank you to the Governor for facilitating his appointment  as committee chairman in the House of Reps.

According to an online report, Igbokwe was quoted to have said the visit was a unique opportunity to say thank you to the governor for his role in ensuring his relevance in the political calculations at the National Assembly.

The lawmaker said despite the fact he was a second timer at the House he was not considered for committee chairmanship because some cabal did not want his relevance in the House of Representatives. He said Governor Okorocha turned deaf ears to rumours about his party status and mandated APC legislators to consider him for appointment.

The report quoted the lawmaker saying that he had to lead his people from Mbaise to return gratitude to the governor who belongs to another political party different from his and considered his relevance in the House of Reps.

Igbokwe took a swipe at those he described as selfish politicians from Mbaise nation who believe that nobody can grow from Mbaise without their blessing and support.

He said as a lawmaker who functions as a liaison officer for his constituency, his principal objective is to attract dividends of democracy to this constituents, adding that this cannot be achieved by always attacking the government of the day.

Rather, he said, there is need to create a connect between his people and the government of the day and that influenced his decision to lead a delegation of leaders of Mbaise to the governor.
