The fireworks in the Imo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has continued unabated with fresh salvos fired at  Hon. Enyinnaya Onuegbu, the self acclaimed publicity secretary of the Anyaehie faction of Imo State PDP.

The Anyaehie faction  belongs to the Ali Modu Sherrif group, while Ray Emeana is the party secretary led by Charles Ezekwem and strongly backed in Abuja by the Ahmed Makarfi faction.

In reaction to an advertorial published in some local tabloids in Owerri sponsored by Onuegbu and targeted at the State Secretary of the PDP, Hon Ray Emeana, he described Onuegbu as an interloper because he and his co travelers lack the legal authority to challenge him as the PDP State Secretary.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, the Imo State PDP scribe reminded Onuegbu and his co interlopers that there are subsisting court orders that did not recognize him (Onuegbu) and his Nnamdi Anyaehie led Sherrif group as state executives of the PDP in Imo State.

He said an Orlu High Court had ruled that Anyaehie ceased to be the state party chairman of the PDP because a state congress has been held which returned Charles Ezekwem as party chairman, himself as party secretary, and other members of the State Executive of the party.

He said the same court had also given an order that Onuegbu and co are committed to prison for violating and disobeying the orders of the court.

The former member of the Imo State House of Assembly added that based on the rulings of the court, the Charles Ezekwem led State executives have continued to deal with Imo State INEC and the DSS because they witnessed the State Congress that produced them as the State Executives of the party in Imo State.

He said Onuegu is nothing but a ranter who thrives on falsehood and in the advertorial he signed he chased substance by engaging in defamation of his character and only ended up in manufacturing tissues of lies against his person.

The PDP State Secretary added that there is no basis for Anyaehie and his co travelers to speak on behalf of the PDP in Imo State as there is also a Court Order restraining Nnamdi Anyaehie and co from parading themselves as Executives of the party in Imo State.

He challenged Barr.Onuegbu and his group to a debate, revealing that at a meeting of stakeholders of the party in Imo State held on Sunday 23rd April, 2017 involving over three thousand members cutting across all ward chairmen, ward women,Ward Youth Leaders, LGA Executive, State Executive, BOT members, and State Assemblies, Former Governors, Former Deputy Governors, Former Senators and Reps Members, Former House of Assembly Members, Council Chairmen former and present, Former Commissioners, SA’s, EA’s, Former Councillors and Party Leaders resolved that the tenure of the Nnamdi Anyaehie led executive of the party expired in October, 2014.

Anchoring his submission on the strength of a letter to the National Caretaker committee dated April 28, 2017 by the Ezekwem led executives, stated that “On the 30th of January, 2016 the Care-Taker Committee of Nnamdi Anyaehie was dissolved and Hon. Vitalis Okafor from Anambra State was sworn in as Care-Taker Committee Chairman”

The letter reads in part “On the 4th of February 2016, Nnamdi Anyaehi went to court to challenge the dissolution of his Executive by NEC”

“On the 16th of February, 2016 the same day Ali Modu Sheriff was confirmed as Acting National Chairman the same NEC confirmed the New Care-Taker Committee”

“On the 16th of March, 2016 a High Court sitting in Owerri confirmed the Care-Taker Committee as having being properly constituted by INEC and subsequently dismissed Nnamdi Anyaehie application with costs”

“On the 8th of August 2017, a State Congress was held to elect the state executive after the mandatory 21 days notice to INEC and subsequent approval by INEC”

“The Congress produced Chief (Barr.) Charles Ezekwem as the State Chairman alongst other executives”

“The Congress was duly monitored by INEC, the Police, DSS, Civil Defence a CSO and the media”

“Since then the new executive has embarked on reconciliation, massive membership drive and has kept the APC, Rochas Okorocha administration accountable to Imo people”

“Unfortunately Nnamdi Anyaehie and his executive members enjoying massive funding from the APC Government in the State continue to distract the PDP Exco in Imo State”

The letter continued “Following a resolution by the State Executive, the party has approached the court to amongst others:An order of interlocutory injunction restraining, the Defendants from parading themselves as members of the Imo State Executive Committee” the letter stated.
