Former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba, is said to be facing a herculean task to streamline which public office he will vie for in 2019.

This website had reported that Nwajiuba has the backing of some powerful forces in the APC  in Abuja who are urging him to aspire for the 2019 governorship contest in Imo State. He has been termed as one of those who belong to the “Abuja Group” of politicians in Imo APC giving Governor Rochas Okorocha headache.

Though close sources have continued to squeal to this website that the former lawmaker is in the race for the governorship of Imo state, there have been newspaper reports lately that he is seeking to take a second shot at the Reps seat of his federal constituency.

To further buttress the fact that he may not seek for a second journey to the House of Representatives, Nwajiuba had told Forum of Imo Based Newspaper Editors who visited his country home on January 3rd 2016, that he has a road map for the development of Imo State.

Nwajiuba had told the editors  “Three times time I ran for governor of Imo State, I had a manifesto. A manifesto I prepared a long time ago.  And I said at the 2011 governorship debate held at Odenigbo pavilion, Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri  that even if I did not win the election, anyone is free to take up my programmes and implement for the people of  Imo State.

“At that time, I was disturbed with the condition of Imo State. Because I recall that there were 107 abandoned Industries which could have been rehabilitated to create employment.  And I was bothered that Imo State was not contributing anything to the national economy.

“There were abandoned Rice Mills. I have invested in Agriculture, piggery and chicken and this is working for me.That is what has kept me going”

Political analysts interpret this statement to reflect a burning passion by Nwajiuba to be governor of Imo State despite encountering failures in the past.

Presently, he  heads a federal government agency, TETFUND. The Ehime Mbano born politician is also known to be an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari having being a top member of the President’s defunct political party- Congress For Progressive Change, CPC.

He served as a member of one of the numerous committees on the side of the CPC that led to the formation of the All Progressive Congress. He has also vied for the Imo governorship contest twice and failed, but his close associates say that 2019 is his finest moment.

Nwajiuba was reported to be behind the formation of a group- Grassroots Liberation Movement (GLM) few months ago. The aims and objectives of the group were sketchy as at press time but analysts interpret it to be a move to launch his governorship ambition very soon.

The group was inaugurated by the former lawmaker this week and was witnessed by a good number of his political followers and associates signaling a step towards unveiling his 2019 governorship bid.
