The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will go ahead with all elections for the South Est geo political zone.

The Commission in reaction to threats by pro Biafra groups that elections will not hold in the region beginning with the Anambra State governorship election.

He described the threats by the IPOB as bizarre.

Speaking in Enugu, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Enugu State, Emeka Ononamadu, said INEC was  bothered by the threats stating that elections will hold and winners will be declared.

“However, I will say that, no matter the agitation, elections are crucial to the government and people must come out to vote; somebody must be declared winner and INEC is there to do that” he said

“INEC has no business with calls for secession or boycott; our mandate is to conduct elections to fill certain positions.

“At the end of the day, Enugu must have a governor in 2019, whether it is just one person that manages to come out to vote,” he said.
