The Roma defender arrived London Tuesday after reportedly turning down offers from Manchester City. The Germany international will undergo medical before completing the move this week.
Antonio Conte, the Chelsea coach settled for Rudiger from a wishlist that had Virgil Van Dijk, Jerome Botaeng and Leonardo Bonucci.
Rudiger starred for Germany, as they won this year’s Confederations Cup.
He will now become Conte’s second signing of the summer, after Willy Caballero arrived on a free transfer from City.
