With the judgment of the nation’s apex court awaited on the authentic national leadership of the PDP, the rivalry in Imo State chapter of the party has accentuated to an unprecedented level.
In a message to this website Thursday, the Publicity Secretary of the party loyal to the Charles Ezekwem faction, Damian Opara, made it clear that there is only one PDP in Imo State.
In his reaction to an online publication (PDP Roundtable platform), purporting that Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie is the Imo State PDP Chairman, Opara said “ ordinarily this could have been ignored, but for clarity and for those who are bent on causing confusion in PDP Imo State The only legally and authentic PDP State Exco in Imo State is the Exco under the leadership of Bar. Charles Ezekwem, this has been settled, any person or persons dealing or still calling any other person state chairman is doing so at his or her own risks”
The Ezekwem group is loyal to the national caretaker committee of Senator Makarfi, while the Nnamdi Anyaehie faction is loyal to Ali Modu Sherrif.
It is expected that the verdict of the Supreme Court will determine the future and existence of the two factions in the party in Imo State.
