There is more trouble for political loyalists of Ali Modu Sherrif in Imo PDP with clear indications that the Makarfi led national caretaker committee has shut out all Sherrif structures in the state.

The PDP at the end of its 74th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, in Abuja “reinstated all State Executives that were elected at the April 2016 congresses and later reversed by Senator Ali Modu Sherrif after the February 17,2017 Court of Appeal Judgement in Port Harcourt, Rivers State”

Also, the party resolved that “there will be a non elective Special National Convention on the 12th of August, 2017 in Abuja regarding the tenure of the National Caretaker Committee which expires on the 16th of August, 2017”

The resolutions among others clearly take out the Sherrif group from making any entrance at the national level and in Imo State chapter of the party.

Analysts  say this clearly show that the gospel of reconciliation preached by the pro Makarfi Imo PDP executives may just be on the lips. It also implies that all congresses from the ward to the State levels remain unchanged thus cutting off possible or future re- entry of Sherrif’s men in the entire Imo PDP structure in Imo State.

As it stands in Imo PDP, the party is totally in the firm grip of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha who strongly backed the Ezekwem led State Executives during the period of turbulence in the party. This places the Nnamdi Anyaehie led executives backed by Senator Hope Uzodinma in a very tight corner despite series of court litigation it instituted against the Ezekwem group.

This news website was told that whatever grouse the Anyahie group had against the Ezekwem executives, it is null and void because before the Supreme Court verdict, a Court of law in the state had ordered Anyaehie and his group to concede the State party secretariat, Owerri to the Ezekwem led State Executives  on the grounds that their tenure had elapsed.

“Anyaehie and co have no case anymore. They are just shouting to be heard. Their tenure had elapsed and was only extended prior to the 2015 general elections. That has been overcome by the State Congress in April  2017 that enthroned the Ezekwem executives. They have no grounds to continue to parade themselves as state executives of the PDP in Imo State with or without the Supreme Court verdict” a party stalwart loyal to the Ezekwem PDP in Imo State said.

However, it was gathered that with Sherrif’s absence at the National Executive Council meeting of the PDP in Abuja it portends that his followers in various states may fizzle out or seek for realignments.

A top party official said while Makarfi’s men in the party are waving the flag of reconciliation across the states, they are very watchful of those who may want to come in wolves skin to cause trouble.

OPTIONS BEFORE SENATOR HOPE UZODINMA IN IMO PDP

Despite the eagle eyes placed on Senator Hope Uzodinma and his Anyaehie group by the Ezekwem State exco in Imo State, analysts contend that the services of the senator might still be needed in the party in Imo State if the party really wants to dethrone the All Progressive Congress, APC in the State.

Despite series of court cases instituted by his men, Uzodinma controls a huge chunk of the party especially in his Orlu Zone including a good number of members of the House of Representatives, past local government chairmen, Councillors, ex party officers, etc.

“Those celebrating that they have captured the PDP structure in Imo State forget that Senator Uzodinma is a political bulldozer. You ignore him, you do so at your own peril. Since 1999, he has played crucial roles in who picks the PDP governorship  ticket and who eventually is elected the governor of Imo State”

“He can make or mar your aspirations. This is why he is the most sought after politician in the state. He will be an asset to the PDP and the APC in 2019 depending on where he pitches his tenth.

” I hope the no victor, no vanquished message is not mere sloganeering” said Chief Reginald Anyanwu, a PDP stalwart in Imo State.
