There is a fresh round of political war in Imo State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, as party members loyal to Senator Ifeanyi Araraume are suffering from political persecution.

Araraume is said to be leading the pack of Abuja politicians in Imo APC who are displeased with the alleged over bearing influence of Governor Rochas Okorocha in the affairs of the party in Imo State.

Araraume’s loyalists- the APC Local Government Executives in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area- were reported to have been barred from attending a meeting summoned by the State APC Chairman, Hillary Eke at the party secretariat in Owerri.

Isiala Mbano is the home local government of the senator.

The party men and leaders were stopped at the entrance gate on the basis that they were not duly invited to the meeting by the Eke led State Working Committee  which had in attendance other local government executives of the party.  A minor scuffle was said to have evolved at the party office as some government agents stormed the party office and began to molest some party members.

As at the time of filing this report, the State Working Committee was yet to speak on the development.

This recent development is an offshoot of recent political altercations involving Senator Araraume and the Okorocha government in Imo APC.

The genesis  of the crisis could be traced to the removal of Araraume loyalists as party chairman in Isiala Mbano Local Government. The senator was said to be instrumental in reversing the decision when the National leadership of the party over turned the appointment and re- instated the senator’s preferred choice as the party’s LGA boss.
