Ohaneze Youths, Owerri Zone chapter, has warned the All Progressive Congress, APC Imo State chapter to zone it’s governorship ticket to the zone.
In a letter to the APC State Chairman and signed by Aririguzo Lucky (Zonal Chairman) and Chiamaka Chukwueke (Secretary), the youths reminded the APC of the confession made by Governor Rochas Okorocha in 2015 that it was the turn of Owerri zone to produce the next governor of Imo State but pleaded that Owerri zone should support him then and in turn he will support Owerri zone in 2019.
“This was why your (APC) was able to win in six out of the nine local governments in Owerri zone. So anything other than your party reciprocal support for Owerri zone in 2019 will be unacceptable to us and will be resisted accordingly” the youths stated.
Ohaneze Youths also recalled that Owerri zone is the most populated zone in Imo State and has the highest number of registered voters. “Yet Owerri zone is the only zone that has not produced an Imo governor for a single term of 4 years”
It recalled that by 2019,Orlu Zone would have produced an Imo governor for 16 years,Okigwe 8 years and 3 months,leaving Owerri zone with 1year and 10 months.
It stated ” Equity and justice demands that the governorship ticket of your party be zoned to Owerri zone in 2019 else your party will certainly not get the support of Owerri zone youth in 2019″
The youths expressed happiness with the position of APC party chieftians who are insisting “that this injustice against Owerri zone be corrected in 2019 such as Hon. Uche Onyeagocha,Hon.Barr.Kingsley Onunuju, Hon. Tobechi Chigbu, among others.
It also appreciated the efforts of other groups, just as it warned that any “intimidation of these persons or groups by the State government which your party controls will be highly resisted by the entire Owerri zone e youths”
