Robbery Attacks: Federal Housing Owerri Residents Send SOS To Okorocha, Commissioner of Police

Following multiple armed robbery attacks on Sunday 20, August 2017, residents of Federal Housing Estate Road 7 Extension Umuguma and those of Site and Services Estate, New Owerri have sent ‘Save Our Soul’ SOS messages to the State Governor Rochas Okorocha and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezike to come to their rescue.

The outcry is coming after a 3 man gang of armed robbers who specializes in the use of motorcycle have continued to terrorize the area unhindered between the hours of 8.30 to 10.30pm. The group as inform by some victims are using motorcycle and sophisticated guns (AK-47) to dispossess people of their belonging and shooting people with gun at small resistance.

Narrating to newsmen Monday, a member of the resident Association of Road 7 Extension Federal Housing Estate, disclosed that for the past one month this very gang has continued to rob at will dispossessing people of their valuables ranging from money, phones, Laptops, Projectors, hand bags, wrist watches, necklace etc. As at the time of filling this report more than fifty people have been robbed and the armed robbers have continued unchallenged even boasting that Police cannot stop them in their nefarious activity.

An executive member of the Association who spoke on anonymous said “we are appealing to our amiable Governor Okorocha, and the newly no-nonsense Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Ezike to come our rescue by sending his men to be at alert on Saturday and Sundays between the hours of 8.00 pm to 11.30 pm to save the lives of the entire residents. The experience many of our residents have to undergo is dehumanizing, agonizing and pitiable, something need to be done by the police as a matter of urgency many have asserted.
