The Imo State Government Friday reacted to posters of Chief of Staff, Government House, Owerri, Uche Nwosu pasted along the major streets of Owerri and on the social media.

In a statement by Sam Onwuemedo, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okorocha, he said those behind the posters are frustrated and envious politicians from the state  some of them with baseless and lingering governorship ambitions.

The statement titled “ The Unsolicited Posters of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu for the 2019 Governorship” reads

“It is interesting to inform the general public especially all men and women of good tidings that we woke up in the morning of Friday, August 25, 2017, to see 2019 governorship campaign posters with the face of the amiable Chief of Staff, Government House Owerri, Chief Uche Nwosu, being pasted along the major streets of Owerri and on the social media, unsolicited.

“Having seen the posters, it is important to let Nigerians especially Imo people know that those behind this brazen acts of frustration, cowardice and envy are politicians from the state, some of them with baseless and lingering governorship ambitions. And having seen that this Uche Nwosu is too loaded in terms of creativity, ingenuity, ideas, hardwork, sincerity, and attractive leadership qualities, on their own, concluded that the young man is likely to succeed Governor Rochas Okorocha.

“Those behind the posters have, for more than one year now invaded the social media and also the print and electronic media with this claim of Uche Nwosu for governor in 2019.

“Unconsciously, they have taken the name of Uche Nwosu to the grassroot in their unyielding effort to run him down and not knowing that all things work together for good to them that love God. They have done great favour to the Nkwerre born administrator in their staggering effort to run him down.

“These elements should be told unequivocally that Power comes from God. And if it is the wish of God that Uche Nwosu will be governor in 2019, no amount of blackmail and ill-tailored propaganda would thwart that God’s plan.

“Again, if Uche Nwosu decides to run for governor in 2019, he will do so and also do all he will be expected to do in the circumstance including printing of posters. And it will be left for Imo people to decide whether to vote for him or not. And not all these hide and seek actions.

“It should also be made known to those behind this child’s play that the constitution of Nigeria as amended and the 2010 electoral act clearly state qualifications and conditions for anybody wishing to run for governorship, and these provisions do not include sentiments that are neither here nor there.
