Thousands of APC supporters in Imo State who converged at the International Convention Centre, ICC went home disappointed yesterday when the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha  failed to announce his successor.

Prior to the meeting, there was expectation that the Governor will announce who will take over the helm of affairs of the State in 2019.

But Okorocha did not bulge as the APC members who gathered at the International Conference Centre went into frenzy as chants of “Show Us The Man” rent the air.

Members of Ugwumba movement, a political group oiling the governorship ambition of the governor’s Chief of Staff and son-in-law, Uche Nwosu who filled  the entire hall also drummed support for their principal urging the Governor to announce him as his successor.

Another group ” Show Us The Man” led by Uche Okafor,a former Director of ISOPADEC, also echoed on Okorocha to announce who will take over from him when he leaves office in 2019. They also drummed support for Uche Nwosu.

Okorocha did not respond as he went ahead to select the twenty seven local government chairmen in the Sttae through voice votes, a practice adjudged to be alien in governance and unconventional.

Analysts said the appointments was a move by the governor to further consolidate his grip on the party structure in the State ahead of the 2019 election.

The event at the ICC also unveiled the governor’s grip and stronghold on the State legislature. Members of the State House of Assembly took their turns to bow and shake the hands of the governor apparently showcasing their loyalty to him.
