Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha is said to be reviewing the handpicked local government chairmen, vice chairmen and Secretaries for the 27 local governments in Imo State.

The Local government officials were selected in a manner described as a charade, unknown in governance and unconventional in a democratic setting.

At a stakeholders meeting attended by his loyalists at the International Conference Centre, ICC in Owerri, last week, the chairmen were selected through voice votes. This has said to have caused some disharmony in the Governor’s camp as several protestations have trailed the exercise.

The news website was told that the Governor has had a herculean task trying to streamline those that emerged at the exercise.

Allegations have been rife that many of those that emerged were members of the UGWUBA Movement, the alleged political structure oiling the ambition of his son- in law and Chief of Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu.

The manner the chairmen emerged had raised concern among stakeholders in the state which is considered a direct opposite of the promise Okorocha made recently that a local government election will be held in October 2017
