South East Govs, Others Meet In Enugu, Kanu’s Whereabouts Unknown

South East Governors are meeting in Enugu where they are suspected to deliberate on the rising tension in the region.

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had within the week clashed severally with soldiers as the military began preparations for Operation Egwu Eke 11 (Phython Dance 11) which officially began on Friday.

Leader of the IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu’s whereabouts is unknown after the army stormed his Afara- Ibeku Umuahia residence on Friday.

Soldiers were reported to have attacked journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat in Umuahia allegedly destroying gadgets and manhandling some of them.

The army later apologized.

Despite calls for the suspension of the operation, the Nigerian Army said it will continue as it is intended to check criminality in the region.

The Governor are said to meet with other leaders of the zone to deliberate on the matter and come out with a blueprint to tackle the situation.

As at the time of filing this report, Chairman of the South East Governors forum, David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and Governor Willie Obiano have arrived the venue..

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was also in attendance.
