by admin

The war in Imo APC may get messier as indications are becoming clear that the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Senator Osita Izunaso may join the governorship contest in Imo State in 2019.

Izunaso had been severally reported to be an ally of another front line politician, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.

A report had speculated of an Ararume/Izunaso APC governorship ticket in Imo.

Izunaso was reported to be under pressure to run for Imo governorship contest following a call by polio victims and other physically challenged indigenes of Imo State who called on him to make himself available for the race.

According to reports, the disabled have also vowed barricade his residence if he does not heed their call.  He however runs Kpakpando foundation which caters for the less privileged.

Last year, he donated a two bedroom bungalow and a brand new Toyota Corolla to the disabled at his 50th birthday celebration which attracted top politicians including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, APC National Chairman, John Oyegun

Izunaso has been mute on the request as he is yet to speak on the issue.

In an article titled ” Imo 2019: Why Izunaso” written by Ike Njoku, he recalled the achievements of the senator when he represented Orlu Senatorial zone in the Senate arguing “that his proven political progress, milk of human kindness and administrative acumen may have informed the decision of the physically challenges persons in Imo, beckoning him to join the race for Imo Guber 2019,to save the soul of Imo”

He wrote” Against this backdrop and from all available indices, distinguished senator Osita Izunaso is ripe and qualified to contest for Imo Governorship come 2019, only if he can heed to the clarion calls of the teeming physically challenged persons”
