Crisis has taken over the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Anambra State two months to the November 18 governorship election.
The crisis festered when the national disciplinary committee of the party on Thursday suspended the former Anambra State chairman of the party, Ken Emeakayi for four years citing reasons that border on indiscipline.
The committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi also terminated all his legitimate privileges while serving the punishment.
A statement from the committee noted that it ”further considered the provision of the constitution of the party and found Ken to have committed infraction against the provisions of section 58 (1), (b), (c) and (h) of the PDP’s constitution.”
”The national disciplinary committee agreed accordingly to suspend Ken as a member of the party for a period of four years starting from Thursday, September 28, 2017, to 27th September 2021. With effect, Mr Ken has lost his membership of the party together with all rights and privileges,” the statement said.
The crisis also took another turn when the party suspended its Anambra State gubernatorial aspirant, Ifeanyi Ubah, for one month.
Ubah’s suspension came after he alleged that the party’s Primary which produced Oseloka Obaze as its candidate for the upcoming polls was marred by irregularities and the party leadership failed to look into his grievances.
