An aggrieved chieftain of the All Progressive Congress APC in Imo State, Hon. Chief Mike Okoro has quit the Special Development Council, SDC. This raises concerns over the spate of resignations that has rocked the Okorocha administration in the last few months.
Political pundits attribute the resignations to further confirmation of a deep crack in the Imo APC which has been sharply polarized along two major contending forces in the party, Governor Okorocha and Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
A former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha had resigned from the Governor’s Special Development Council, SDC.
In his resignation letter, he said “ my resignation is sequel to my realization that my continued membership of the State Development Council (SDC) is a deceit and a chain on my political aspiration and vision
. “It inhibits virtually any politician worth his salt from taking any independent and meaningful decision or stand for himself and the community which He represents”.
“We are reduced to post masters and errand boys that are cowed into a grossly exploited group. My continued membership puts a big question mark on my initiative as an old politician, ridiculously finding myself caged in a non-statutory and pedestrian appointment which tends to hold me down”
The trend of resignations is further compounded by the absence of a State Executive Council that has not been re- constituted since its dissolution three months ago.
