In furtherance of its urban renewal programme, bulldozers of the Imo State government on Monday morning commenced the demolition of a shopping plaza located in front of Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
No properties were lost as owners of the stalls of the plaza had vacated the area before the demolition took place.
Last week, the State government demolished the fence of Old Stadium, Owerri as part of its commitment too relocate the Eke Ukwu Owerri market.
The demolition of the Eke Ukwu, an ancestral market for over 200 years attracted mixed reactions from the populace in the State.
