Leaders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance,APGA in Imo State have been engaged in serious consultations over the deluge of top politicians mainly governorship aspirants from the All Progressive Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP.
In recent weeks, some PDP and APC chieftians in the State such as Chief Jerry Chukwueke, Chief Charles Onyeagbako pitched their political tenth with APGA.
Chukwueke vied for the 2006 PDP Governorship Primary which he lost. He made another attempt in 2011 which also ended in futility. He crossed over to the All Progressive Congress,APC in 2015.
This newspaper had reported last week that former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim is under pressure to join the party.
The movement of these politicians to APGA which is mainly influenced by their governorship ambitions have compelled top notchers of the party to enter with serious consultations.
The party leadership in the State is said to be reaching out to Anambra State Governor,Chief Willie Obiano for further talks on how to manage the huge political gain for the party with the coming of these politicians to the party in Imo State.
It was gathered that a date after the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State will be scheduled to receive the new entrants at an elaborate ceremony in Owerri.
A source said “We are making far reaching consultations with all relevant stakeholders in the party. Our Leader, the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano is in the picture of the new development in the party in Imo State”
“May be after the Anambra State Governorship election on November 18, which we believe our party will win, a big reception will be organized for those who have formally joined the party in Imo State” he said.
