A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State, Hon Uche Onyeagocha has called on the Imo State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Rochas Okorocha for demolishing the ancestral Eke Ukwu Owere market.

He said the House members should wake up to its responsibilities and impeach the governor for perpetuating illegality.

Onyeagocha who spoke on a radio programme in Owerri said the market should not have not been demolished in the first place since there was a court order restraining him from demolishing the market and at a time the nation is  in recession.

“ Eke Ukwu market should not have been demolished at a time when the nation is in dire economic straits. At a time parents are paying school fees . it is most inhuman”

Onyeagocha condemned in strong terms the14 days birthday celebration of the governor which he described as a waste.

He alleged that most of the gifts the governor received during the birthday period were induced and solicited for, revealing that even the 27 House of Assembly members who visited the governor with gifts were compelled to do so.

The Former Member of the House of Representatives also took a swipe at the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo for wasting his country’s resources by visiting Owerri for two days just to attend Okorocha’s birthday. He promised to write a letter to the Ghanaian President to intimate him on his futility of his visit.

Onyeagocha, who has been a fierce critic of the Okorocha administration, apologized to Imo citizens for campaigning for Rochas re election in 2011.

” I sincerely apologize to the people of Imo State for campaigning for him in 2011″ he said.

He spoke against the urban renewal programme of the government saying if the governor has knowledge of the master plan of the city, he should have focused his attention on New Owerri area.

“Owerri ancient town is already built up. He should focus on New Owerri area and other satellite towns” he said.
