Despite its trumpeted efforts to stay on as one, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State appears divided.
The Owerri zone chapter of the party had sued for unity among stakeholders recently, but last week the Nnamdi Anyaehie State executive that was loyal to the now rested Ali Modu Sherrif faction debunked reports that Senator Hope Uzodinma, senator representing Imo North has been suspended in the party
Rising from a stakeholders meeting at its No.47 Okigwe road Secretariat, Owerri, Chairman of the party in the State Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie dismissed in strong terms the purported suspension of Senator Uzodinma saying it was a figment of the evil imagination of those bereft of ideas.
Anyaehie cautioned party members against wicked rumours and falsehood, stating the Uzodinma is a ranking senator, a Board of Trustees member of the party and Chairman, Southern Senators Forum.He said any plan or effort to bring Senator Uzodinma down will be resisted and will fail.
The PDP in Imo State had been in turbulence despite the Supreme Court judgment that settled the leadership rift between Ali Modu Sherrif and Ahmed Makarfu factions at the national level.
The Implication of the judgment gave legal teeth to the Charles Ezekwem led state executives loyal to Makarfi. The Ezekwem Executives had suspended nine leaders of the party last month mainly those loyal to Anyaehie executives.
This newspaper observed that despite the fact that the Ezekwem executives is leading the mainstream of the party in the state, the Anyaehei group do have considerable level of followers in the party.
