Delivering his sermon during the church service, Rev Okechukwu Uzuegbu who spoke on “the unity in Christ Jesus” called on Christians to imbibe the spirit of unity, noting that the absence of unity breeds crisis.

He observed that though the human body was made of various parts, they must work in unity to achieve meaningful result. He added that the
Apostle Paul used the parts of the human to illustrate how Christians
who come from diverse background should function.

According to the Priest, “the Apostle used the human body to illustrate that unity is necessary because in the absence of unity there will be anarchy. Paul used the physical things to illustrate the spiritual. He said that church is the wife to the Christ and
highlighted the unity that should exist between the husband and wife and the church and Christ Jesus”.

Rev Uzuegbu also noted that the level of chaos in the society and the church today as a result of disunity, even as he said that the church and the society must recognize Christ Jesus to be united.

He noted that there was nothing wrong in anybody becoming great, even as he noted that those who set out to build the Tower of Babel were united but were opposed by God because they not recognize him.

He called on the people to make Christ Jesus the focal point of their unity because, according to him, “Jesus told his disciples that without him they could do nothing.”

The Rev also called for unity in the country and family, noting that “Today, the absence of unity in the families and the country has led to many problems. If the family is not united the country and the church cannot be united”.

He added that “There are people who are here but they are not in good terms with their brothers. Where there is unity God sends his blessings”, even as he said that “majority of Nigerians agree that Nigeria should stay united because division would bring more hardship to the people”.
