Fresh facts emerged yesterday why Senator representing Orlu Senatorial zone, Senator Hope Uzodinma shunned PDP Disciplinary Committee.
The Committee led by Chief Tom Ikimi was said to have received a petition from the Charles Ezekwem led State Executives accusing the senator of sponsoring a parallel State Executive in the State.
The Senator had failed to appear before the committee on grounds that he was out of the country. He was said to have sent a letter to the committee to prepare himself for another invitation.
His claims became doubtful when he made a surprise appearance at the 75th birthday ceremony of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu in Abuja.
It was gathered that the Senator may have shunned the invitation to have more time for an Orlu High Court to give injunction on a suit instituted by the Nnamdi Anyaehie faction against the Ezekwem Executive on who among the two Executives is the authentic and recognized Group to attend PDP’s National Convention billed for December 9, 2017 at Abuja.
But a close source faulted the speculation saying that the senator has nothing to hide and had no reason to even not to honour his invitation before the committee.
The PDP in Imo State is divided along two or three factions with many laying claim to be the authentic leadership of the party.
The Charles Ezekwem faction enjoys some legitimacy as it is recognized by the Ahmed Makarfi National Caretaker Committee of the party.
Senator Hope Uzodinma is alleged to be backing the Nnamdi Anyaehie group which also lay claim to the leadership of the party. He was suspended by the Ezekwem leadership for anti party activities which led to his invitation by the Chief Tom Ikimi led Disciplinary Committee.
