Okorocha Moves To Appease Pensioners Over Dud Cheques, Keke Operators

BY SANDRA AMADI#

In what appears a move to calm the frayed nerves of Pensioners in Imo State and also parley with aggrieved  Keke operators, reports reaching this online news platform indicate that Governor Rochas Okorocha is expected to a  meeting with both groups in Owerri

Pensioners in the State had lamented that they were given dud cheques for more than a month thus are unable to receive their meagre pensions.

Based on this development, a meeting with the Pensioners have been scheduled at the International Convention Centre, ICC for all Pensioners to attend where all the matter will be resolved.

Also, Keke Operators are to meet with the Governor at Heroes Square on Wednesday. There has been a little rift between the State Government and Keke riders over plans to phase out their operations by December.

In October, they were banned from plying some major roads in Owerri which is still in force till date. A protest had ensued thereafter to express their displeasure over the planned ban.
