Power Tussle In Owerri Community, Youths Overthrow Chairman

A major power tussle has ensued in Umuororonjo community in Owere Municipal with some  aggrievesyouths overthrowing their leader.

The Chairman of the community’s youth body populary known as Adamu is alleged to have over stayed his tenure to six years outside the mandatory two years he was elected to serve.

A source said the move to sack ‘Adamu’ was hatched a long ago by another group of youths which became infuriated over his long stay in office.

The climax of the plot took place on Sunday when majority of the community youths gathered in large numbers to pass a vote of no confidence on the Chairman.

A source who spoke to our reporter alleged that some of those who took up the task of removing the Chairman have been receiving several threat text messages from unknown persons.

One of the leaders who took part in the plot who spoke on condition of anonymity claimed that he got a text messahe from someone who claimed to be a police officer inviting him to a location which is outside the police station.

However, no break down of violence has been noted in the community as calm seem to pervade the area.
