Despite his unofficial declaration for the 2019 governorship race, this online news platform has stumbled on facts that prove that some certain political forces within and outside the Rescue Mission government are behind the ambition of Chief of Staff, Government House, Owerri and Governor Rochas Okorocha son in – law, Uche Nwosu.

Nwosu is widely speculated to be eying Governor Rochas Okorocha’s seat in 2019 but has not officially gotten the backing of his father in law who is yet to announce publicly who takes over the reins of governance of the State in 2019.

But the opposition strongly believe Nwosu has the support of the Governor as alleged by a former APC chieftain and now APGA member, Hon.Uche Onyeagocha.

It was gathered that aside Okorocha:s  family members that may have been co opted in the Chief of Staff governorship bid, majority of those in the Rescue mission government are also behind the young politician.

Nwosu is reported to have made inputs in 27 Commissioner nominees Governor Okorocha submitted to the Imo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

He is also known to have aided the appointment of Chidi Nwaturuocha who was in charge of Owerri Mayoral Affairs before his elevation as a Commissioner. Some other nominees also had the input of the Chief of Staff who has been adjudged the defacto governor of Imo State by opposition elements in the State.

Majority of top players in the Rescue Mission have titled towards his rumoured ambition lately including Secretary to the Government of Imo State, George Eche who was recently co opted into the Ugwumba movement, a political structure widely believed to be Nwosu’s unofficial campaign network found in all the 27 Local Governments of the State.

Eche was appointed facilitator of Ugwumba movement in his Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, a pointer that he may have perished any intention to be the anointed in Okorocha’s succession plan.

Outside the walls of the Rescue mission government, Nwosu also appears to be enjoying a huge dose of support from some members of the Imo State House of Assembly.

This newspaper noticed that aside the Speaker of the House, Hon.Acho Ihim who is widely reported to have jumped into Okorocha’s succession plan with an eye to be selected as the Governor’s successor, some principal officers of the House such as the Deputy Speaker,Hon.Ugonna Ozuruigbo, Majority Leader,Hon.Lugard Osuji, Member representing Onuimo State Constituency, Hon.Chinedu Offor and some other lawmakers are neck deep in support of the guber ambition Nwosu is alleged to be nursing.

Reports also had it that some of the Transition Committee Chairmen in the 27 Local Governments were also drawn from the Ugwumba movement.

At a rally of the All Progressive Congress, APC held in Owerri municipal, Nwosu was silent on his perceived ambition but rather advised party members to remain loyal to the party and its ideals.

Flanked by some members of the House, he promised to assist the party in the municipality just as he called on party stalwarts to continue to support the ideals of the Rescue mission government.

Similar rallies may come up in other local governments which has been described as “testing the waters and feeling the pulse” of party members for the Chief of Staff before Okorocha’s pronouncement on who his successor is.
