Rift broke out in the party when Governor Rochas Okorocha alleged that some politicians took an oath in exchange for their loyalty to a governorship aspirant in the party.

The Chairmen are said to have pledged their allegiance to a governorship aspirant after they fell out with Okorocha and the APC State Chairman, Hilary Eke citing  lack of funds, a key factor that has impoverished them for a long time.
