Trouble is brewing in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Imo State over the December 9, 2017 national convention.
The bone of contention is the delegates election which is being carried out by the two factions in the party.
Despite the legitimacy status accorded the Charles Ezekwem led state executives by the national caretaker committee led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the Nnamdi Anyaehie camp which also claims to be the State Executive is also preparing arrangements for its delegates congress to elect delegates to the national convention.
Both camps have already fixed separate dates for the convention. The Ezekwem group has scheduled November 11, 2017 for the election of ward congresses to elect a three man delegates while the Anyaehie group is said to be tinkering with a date for the congress.
This latest development is likely to see the emergence of two delegates list from the two camps and further swell the embers of discord between two political forces in the party, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha who is backing the Ezekwem led leadership and Senator Hope Uzodinma who is behind the Anyaehie group. The duo are speculated to be eying the governorship ticket of the party.
None of the officials of both camps agreed to speak on the matter but a source in the party confirmed to this online newspaper that indeed there is a fierce scramble for the delegates list in the party by the two contending forces.
