Trouble now looms in Umuororonjo community in Owerri municipal as youths in the area are engaged in a  fierce war over the chairmanship of the youth body.

A group of youths allegedlly sponsored by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP (names withheld) had pushed for the removal of the youth chairman popularly known and called “Adamu”

“Adamu” had  incurred the wrath of some youths and stakeholders in the community who were fed up with his long stay in office as Youth Chairman.

He has spent six years in office against the mandatory two years.

Last Sunday, those opposed to his continued  long stay passed a vote of no confidence on the Chairman sparking a  fresh row between his loyalists and those against him.

The matter took a new dimension when supporters of the Chairman employed the services of a local town crier who went round the village to announce the banishment of those opposed to him.

Anarchy now looms in the community as the inability of elders of the area to intervene has serious concerns and worries.

Efforts to speak to the Youth Chairman proved abortive as at press time.
