Imo State Govt. Set To Demolish New Market, Issue Dec 15 Deadline

Traders at New Market, Owerri will be affected by ongoing demolition exercise of the Imo State government under the guise of urban renewal programme. Reports reaching this online news platform indicate that the State Government has told the traders to vacate the market latest December 15th, 2017

New Market is more or less an automobile spare parts market that had added value to the economy of the State.

Some of the traders said their plea for an extension to the State Government were turned down.

Governor Rochas Okorocha was said to directed that the traders be give one week extension of time to enable the traders relocate with their wares.

The urban renewal programme of the State Government led to demolition of Eke Ukwu Owerri market and several buildings in Owerri metropolis.
