NGO Hold Interactive Media Forum With INEC

The leadership of a reputable Non Governmental Organization, NGO, Development Dynamics has concluded a one day interactive session with Journalists and the management of Independent Electoral Commission, INEC,Imo Stateon the lessons learnt fro. the last Nov.18th Anambra State Governorship Election exercise.

The interactive media forum was organized by the Executive Director of Development Dynamics, Dr. Jude Chimdi Ohanele who is also the Programme Director of the Civil Society Group. The theme of the interactive session was tagged “Straightening Citizens Election in Election Process,SCEEP”, using the last Anambra State Guber polls as a case study.

Speaking to newsmen,the Executive Director, Dr.Ohanele expressed satisfaction with the level of free,fair and credible election exercise that was conducted by INEC even as he commended the Commission and the electoral observers,security personel for not compromising during the election.

He extolled the people of Anambra State for allowing an enabling environment  during the polls which he described as a welcome development that must be reciprocated and replicated in the forthcoming Imo Governorship election exercise in 2019.

Dr.Ohanele while addressing media moguls and the representatives of INEC described the governorship election exercise held in Anambra State as far more better than that of 2013.

He further expressed optimism that a credible election exercise would be conducted in the entire South- Eastern States especially in Imo State.

He disclosed that SCEEP forum is aimed at straightening the relationship between INEC and the Masses for the societal benefits of the public.

Speaking on the event, The Programme Director, Dr. Ohamele while speaking on the electoral lessons learnt from the Anambra State election exercise said that the election has shown maturity of the voters and electorates in ensuring that only the most credible party candidates emerged.

He appealed to all the voters in Imo State to always vote their conscience.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner,REC, Imo State,Prof.Francis Chukwuemeka Ezeonu said INEC is like an old wine trying to getter more better.

Speaking on the lessons of Anambra State polls, Prof.Ezeonu expressed delight for the electoral successes recorded by the Anambra State INEC leadership.

He frowned at the level of challenges that is at the moment causing more harm to the commission such as lack of logistics, insecurity, technological error of the card readers, transportation problems and lack of early deployment of the electoral materials and other problems to many to mention.

The Imo INEC REC, Prof.Ezeonu expressed readiness of his commission to ensure free, fair and credible election exercise in Imo State in 2019.
