Shock is the word to describe the reaction of chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC and members of the Ugwumba movement who came out in large numbers to witness the unveiling ceremony of Ugwumba movement secretariat near Imo Concorde hotel, Owerri.
Also present at the ceremony were Local Government Transition Committee Chairmen, Commissioners, some members of Imo State House of Assembly
Ugwumba movement is believed to be the political structure of Chief Uche Nwosu, Government House Chief Of Staff.
Reports have been awash in the media that he wants to be Governor Rochas Okorocha’s successor in 2019.
Members of the movement from the 27 local governments had gathered for the unveiling ceremony but the Chief of Staff was no were to be sighted.
A member of the movement, Hon. Chris Onuoha who claimed to be a member of the group in Owerri West said ” I am very disappointed that we have gathered for the official Unveiling of Ugwumba Movement Secretariat /Get Together but i am very surprised that the President and the whom we have gathered here for is no where to be found”
In his remarks, the Director General of Ugwumba Movement,High Chief MacAnthony M.C. Ahamefule, expressed satisfaction with high rate of turn out of members and facilitators of the movement from across the 27 Local Government Areas of the state describing it as a bold step in a right direction for the movement.
He disclosed that the Movement Presidents’ absence at the event was due to his official assignment out side the state.
Chief Ahamefele further described the movement as one of the pressure groups formed over six years ago aimed at supporting the good governance of the Rescue Mission led administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha.
The Director General also disclosed that the movement is to assist the government of Okorocha and not to project the Imo State Chief of Staff as the next Governor of the state as widely alleged by many
