Split In PDP Raises Hope For Aggrieved Members In Imo

The split in the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP at the national level may have raised the hope of some aggrieved party chieftains for the Imo State chapter of the party.

A group of party chieftains had yesterday in Abuja declared a “Fresh PDP” kicking against the newly elected national executive of the party led by Prince Uche Secondus. The resolution of some aggrieved members of the PDP at the national level may have raised hope of a similar group of aggrieved party members in Imo State chapter.

Imo PDP have been embroiled in crisis over the tussle for the leadership of the party. A group of key stakeholders led by Dr. Nnamdi Anyaehie had continoulsy insisted that it controls the PDP in Imo State. The group is solidly backed by Senator Hope Uzodinma who has been speculated to be leaving the PDP for the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA after the party’s national convention held on December 9, 2017.

With the ruling of the Supreme Court which declared Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic national chairman of the PDP and the emergence of Uche Secondus as the elected national chairman, all hopes were foreclosed for the Anyaehie group in Imo State rather giving credence to the Charles Ezekwem led State Executives backed by a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives,Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.

With the resurgence of the ” Fresh PDP” it is unknown if the aggrieved party members in Imo State may watch and see the unfolding development before pitching their political tenth. No member of the Anyaehis group agreed to speak to this newspaper on the unfolding development at the national level of the party.
