In a bid to remain relevant in the next political dispensation, some top politicians in Imo State are gearing up to align and re align their political interests before the 2019 polls.
Investigation reveal that more PDP chieftains in Imo State are set to head to the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA by the beginning of next year.
APGA had lately witnessed a swell in its ranks with top chieftains crossing over to the party.
This newspaper had reported two months ago that former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim may dump the PDP for APGA. That move later ended in the realm of speculation when Ohakim later showed up at a NEC meeting of the PDP in Abuja. It was unconfirmed as at last week if the ex governor may re juggle the move judging from recent development in the PDP in Imo State.
The emergence of Prince Uche Secondus as PDP national chairman has given impetus to a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who is eying the party’s governorship ticket. Ihedioha gave Secondus enormous backing during the PDP elective national convention and it is expected that the PDP national chair may tacitly back Ihedioha for the party’s governorship ticket.
Another PDP heavyweight, Senator Hope Uzodinma is also alleged to be contemplating moving to APGA. This could not be verified as at press time. This newspaper reported on Sunday that he is ” ready to go”
The All Progressive Congress, APC in Imo State may also record some gains with reports that a PDP Federal lawmaker, Hon. Ralpheal Nnanna Igbokwe will soon join the APC.
Igbokwe could not be reached for comments but he has been seen in the midst of APC chieftains at state functions in Owerri.
Early in the year, he had led his kinsmen on a solidarity visit to Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha at Government House, Owerri
