Senator Samuel Anyanwu, senator representing Owerri senatorial zone has doled out gift items to women drawn from the nine local governments that constitute Owerri zone.
The senator was represented at the event by her wife, Olachi Sam Anyanwu.
Speaking to the women, she said the items doled out to them is in line with the senator’s concern and care for women in her senatorial zone.
In her brief remarks, a woman leader in the area, Mrs.Ijeoma Nwafor said the programme is part of the efforts of the Sow That Others May Eat Foundation which is ensuring the well being of women in Owerri zone.
She advised them to organize themselves and form cooperatives that will help them benefit immensely from several Federal government programmes.
She described senator Anyanwu as a man who has effectively represented the people of Owerri zone urging them to continue to pray for his sucesss at the senate.
The highpoint of the event was the doling out Christmas items and cash to more than 1,000 women drawn the zone.
