In line with our report yesterday that a top chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may join the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Imo State, runours went wild on the social media Sunday that Senator Hope Uzodinma may join the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.

There is no independent verification of this claim as at the time of filing this report. Efforts to speak to Senator Uzodinma was not successful as at press time.

A close aide to the Senator was not forthcoming when this online newspaper made inquiries yesterday night.

However, speculations had been rife that the Senator who is strongly behind a formidable faction in the PDP in Imo State may leave the party whose platform he went to the senate thrice.

Things became more cloudy for members of his faction in Imo State when the Supreme Court ruled that Sentaor Ahmed Makarfi is the authentic national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Uzodinma is a known supporter of the Ali Modu Sherrif faction that lost out in the power tussle for the soul of the PDP.

With this development, the senator who is speculated to be eying the Imo State governorship contest in 2019 appears to have lost out in the struggle to gain control of the PDP structure in the state to a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.

Ihedioha and other key stakeholders in Imo PDP “installed” the present leadership of the party in Imo State from the ward to the state levels.

The emergence of the Prince Uche Secondus as national chairman of the PDP, a close ally of Ihedioha, may have foreclosed Uzodinma’s chances to further his ambition on the PDP platform in Imo State.
