There were plans by some members of  the Imo State House of Assembly to impeach the Speaker,Rt Hon Acho Ihim which would have paved the way for the impeachment of the Governor, Rochas Okorocha, this online newspaper can reveal.

The plot later boomeranged as some members eventually sold out.

Aside the issue of bail out funds, Paris Club refund and a fresh N880 million naria that was said to have come into the State, the lawmakers became  furious with the Governor that with such amount of money that came into the State, he refused to even give them their constituency votes and other entitlements due to them.

In a move to curtail the Governor’s excesses, the House members led by  Hon.Lugard Osuji boycotted the 2018 Budget presentation by the Governor and later moved against the Clerk of the House, Chris Duru by moving for his suspension for insubordination and lack of confidence which the Speaker reversed.

The suspension of the Clerk was targeted at paving the way for the impeachment of the Speaker and finally the Governor for financial embezzlement and lack of accountability.

To further express their displeasure with the Governor, the lawmakers avoided completely the 50 years birthday anniversary of the wife of the Governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha.

A member of the State Assembly names withheld said that “you can’t imagine that while we are questioning what the Governor did with first tranche of Paris Club Refund, another eight hundred and eighty million naira (N880m) had arrived for the past months, yet members of the state Assembly have been starved of funds while begging to eat and feed their families. Also the problem of Imo pensioners and civil servants who have been crying for the payment of their entitlement for months now, yet Governor looks the other way while his family smiles.”

This online newspaper gathered that suddenly some members of the House betrayed their collective understanding and agreement and suddenly shifted their loyalty to the side of the Governor and the Speaker.

This now left the Majority Leader, Hon Osuji and his Deputy, Hon.Kennedy Ibe open to attacks and threats from the Governor’s camp which forced them to resign

Meanwhile, the Acho Ihim led House has appointed the new Majority leader and Deputy with 8-members loyal to his camp
