Some key stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP may have concluded plans to align with the All Progressive Congress, APC and Governor Rochas Okorocha for the 2019 governorship election.
The stakeholders were those edged out of the power tussle in the PDP in the State. A source said they are worried over the total control of the party machinery in the State by a former senior federal lawmaker who is most likely to pick the party’s governorship ticket in 2019.
It would be recalled that Senator Hope Uzodinma and Hon.Emeka Ihedioha had fought a bitter war over the party machinery in the State.
Uzodinma lost the battle to the latter via a Supreme Court judgement that recognized Ahmed Makarfi as National Caretaker Chairman and later the emergence of Uche Secondus as national chairman, a strong ally of Ihedioha
One of the party stakeholders who spoke to this newspaper on condition of anonymity complained on the manner the PDP structure in the State has been totally hijacked by some forces which now makes it difficult for all party members to work together.
This group of party stalwarts led by a top member of the party in the senate is said to be wooed by some APC forces in the State.
The terms of the proposed deal which has been ongoing for sometime were sketchy as at press time as it was unclear what is in stock for the PDP faithful and army of followers if the deal with the APC henchmen in the State pull through.
