The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Imo State has continued to witness influx of some top politicians in the State.
Most of them are interested in the governorship contest of 2019 and intend to secure the party’s governorship ticket as a stepping stone to realize their ambitions.
Reports reaching this online medium indicate that a former Commissioner of Health in the State, Dr.Joseph Obi Njoku has plunged into the guber race on the platform of APGA thus swelling the number of governorship aspirants in the party.
Further reports indicate that some high ranking politicians including a former governor and a serving senator may soon join the party where they will further their political ambitions.
This newspaper had two months ago reported that former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim may be on his way to APGA. Ohakim had announced his return from partisan politics on Tuesday at a meeting with political leaders in Okigwe zone, a move seen to signal his move to APGA any moment from now.
Ohakim’s Deputy when he was Imo State Governor, Dr (Mrs) Ada Okwuonu had since decamped from PDP to APGA.
A serving Senator is also expected to join the party.
The senator who had lost out in the power tussle in Imo PDP is said to have held high level talks with the leadership of APGA.
He was said to have gone into similar talks with the All Progressive Congress, APC but may have met a brickwall after he failed to get a clear assurance of an automatic ticket.
