Imo State Agriculture and Food Security Commissioner, Hon.(Mrs) Ugochi Nnanna Okoro has denied reports on the social media that she has been sacked as State Woman leader of Ugwumba Movement.
Ugwumba Movement is the political structure of Chief of Staff, Government House, Owerri, Uche Nwosu who is said to be interested in the Imo State governorship contest in 2019.
According to the report, Mrs. Nnanna Okoro was sacked “for gross misconduct and the disrespectful manner she usurped the powers of her office as State Woman Leader of the Ugwumba Movement after found guilty by a Disciplinary Committee”
The report also stated that she was also banned for holding any position in the Movement for two years by the Committee. She was reportedly replaced by Lady Chioma Tycoon Onwumere.
This online newspaper was unable to ascertain what could have led to the “sack” of the Commissioner from the Movement but a source revealed that Mrs.Okoro could be having some issues with some persons in the organization.
Mrs Ugochi Nnanna Okoro has been an undiluted loyalist of Governor Rochas Okorocha since the inception of the Rescue Mission government in 2011 and this may have informed the reason why she has been recycled several times into several positions in the Rescue administration by the Governor. Her level of loyalty is seen as a huge factor that led to her inclusion as a major and strategic stakeholder in the Ugwumba Movement of Uche Nwosu where she was appointed as State Woman Leader of the organization.
Recently, a vote of confidence was passed on her by the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Owerri West Local Government Area which attest to her level of loyalty to the Okorocha government.
Responding to allegations of her reported sack, she described the report as laughable because her position as State Woman Leader of the Ugwumba Movement is not in contest.
