Political leaders in Okigwe zone have opted for the Peoples Democratic Party as a vehicle to realize the zone’s quest to occupy Government House, Owerri in 2019, vowing to exert their energy in repairing the damaged political party.

The leaders, according to a statement by Collins Ughalla, a media aide to former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, the leaders took the decision at a meeting convened by the former Governor at his Burma Retreat, Okohia

Ohakim at the meeting announced his return to partisan politics after two years sabbatical.

Part of the statement stated “The leaders also resolved to set up a committee that is made up of competent men and women to meet with the National Chairman of the PDP and demand the immediate reinstatement of stacked elected executives of the party in the 27 local government areas and 305 wards of the state, that were elected prior to the National Convention that was held recently in Abuja.

“The Okigwe Zone leaders said the committee has a period of 14 days to complete their work. They also resolved to seek alternative political platform should the National Chairman of the PDP not agree to their demand and effect the desired change”
