South East Leaders and Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress, APC met at Imo State Government Lodge in Abuja on Sunday where they deliberated on President Muhammadu Buhari’s re- election in 2019.

The meeting is coming on the heels of media reports that some stakeholders of the party  had rejected the appointment of Governor Rochas Okorocha as Co-coordinator, South East Campaign Organization for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019

The Imo State Governor had announced his appointment as Head of Buhari’s campaign, an announcement which led to some disapproval by some stakeholders as reported in the media.  It is unknown if  the inaugural meeting resolved the differences.

The Governor who presided over the inaugural meeting on Sunday comprising party leaders from Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi and Imo States urged party stalwarts to shelve personal and primordial interests and come together to ensure victory for the party in 2019.

However, pundits say irrespective of any differences, the meeting signaled a determined effort and commitment by the APC leaders in the South East to ensure Buhari records an impressive outing in the region after posting a dismal performance in the 2015 elections where he scored less than 200,000 votes in the five South East States.

According to a facebook post by Mazi Anayochukwu Idiong, an aide to the Governor on social media, among those who attended the meeting include former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Senator Benjamin Uwajumuogu, Senator Andy Uba, former Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Nwogu, Senator Nkechi Nwogu, Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Elechi, Senator Osita Izunaso, Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, Minister of Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelemam, APC members in the House of Representatives, Dr. Uche Ogah, Secretary to Imo State Government, George Eche, Chief of Staff, Government House, Owerru, Uche Nwosu, Board members from Imo State, and many others.
