The Imo State Government has said it has commenced payment of January 2018 salaries of civil servants in the State.

The Government said  that “the money for the payment of the January Salary was released on Thursday, January 18, 2018 and the payment has begun in earnest”

According to the statement signed by Governor Okorocha’s Press Secretary,  Sam Onwuemedo “The government decided to be keeping the public posted on the issue of Salary payment because of the unpatriotic dispositions of some of the workers who always deny that they have not been paid Salary when they have been paid in actual fact”

“The governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Rescue Mission Government he heads would continue to give payment of Salary and Pensions the attention they deserve” he stated

The issue of payment of workers salaries in the State has been a thorny one with claims and counter claims by the State government of payment and non payment of salaries.

Some of the civil servants had claimed that only November salary was paid to them as they went home for the yuletide without their December salary
