Imo State Information Commissioner, Prof Nnamdi Obiarei has been in the news lately. His endorsement for Okigwe senatorial seat by Governor Rochas Okorocha and the Imo State leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC has really changed the political equation in Okigwe zone.
Several individuals and groups within and outside the zone have all drummed their support for his aspiration which is a clear indication that he is indeed a major contender for Okigwe senatorial seat. His ambition has indeed raised the tempo of the contest in the zone and now gives the incumbent senator, Benjamin Uwajumuogu a run for his money at the elections.
The Imo State Information boss has demonstrated rare political strength and character by taking his ambition to the next level. He can be rated as one of the aspirants that has hit the ground running and demonstrated firm commitment to achieve his ambition.
Combining his duties as Chief Information manager of the Imo State government with his senatorial ambition is not an easy task but his dexterity and dynamism have become effective tools to effectively combine the double responsibilities.
Indeed, the law don has what it takes to represent his people at the senate since he enjoys the overwhelming support and endorsement from his people. He also posses a knack which suggest his capacity and quality to deliver the goodies of democracy to his Okigwe people. At a time Nigeria is in need of fire brands and intellectually sound minds to take up the task of lawmaking, Obiareri perfectly fits in- a case of round peg in a round hole.
Okigwe zone is noted to have produced credible leaders such as Late Dee Sam Mbakwe. And it will not be out of place to say that Obiareri is a student of those leadership ideals as espoused by the late former Imo State Governor. The race for Okigwe seat has indeed began and it is encouraging to see a vibrant aspirant such as Obiareri take a plunge into the contest.
