Two leading political parties in the country have reacted to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obasanjo had in a 13 page explosive letter told the President not to seek re- election in 2019.

The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA National Chairman, Victor Oye in his reaction said in a statement that Obasanjo was not morally justified to dictate to Buhari if he should contest again.

He said “Obasanjo’s opinion and Nigerian’s opinions differ. People might have different opinion. What we need now in Nigeria is for us to remove unnecessary tension.

“Even if Buhari is not going to run in 2019, we shouldn’t create unnecessary tension because the man himself knows what to do and he doesn’t need Obasanjo’s letter to take such decision.

“It is Buhari’s entitlement to run for second term, but if he is saying he cannot run, he knows what to do.

“When Obasanjo was president what did he do? Was he a wonderful leader? Did he tar road in South-east? Enugu to Port-Hacourt road he didn’t do it. Okigwe to Oga he didn’t do it, and so on, and he busy talking about Nepotism. Obasanjo does not have moral justification to say such a thing.”

In a related development, the All Progressive Congress, APC said “ at this time” it has no response to the blistering remarks of the former President.

APC national publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi said the party needed time to study Obasabjo’s statement to decide whether to react or not.

He said the party at the moment is studying the letter more closely as it had relied “ on what is being circulated in the media”
