House Of Reps Member, Nwawuba Organize Peace Summit For Constituents, Stakeholders

As part of his undiluted commitment to promote peace and harmony among stakeholders in Mbaike, the member representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency in the House of Representative, Hon. Henry Nwawuba has initiated a peace summit in the area.

Mbaike is a traditional name used for two neighbouring local governments, Ikeduru and Mbaitoli Local Governments of Imo State.

The summit took off at the weekend and its maiden edition was held at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Ubommiri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State.

The aim of the summit is to promote peace geared towards promoting and sustaining the economic, social development of the people. The venue of the meeting was full to the brim with stakeholders in Mbaike such as the youths, students, members of various political parties namely the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressive Congress, APC and some staff of Mbaitoli Local Government Area who were in attendance to brainstorm on the way forward for the constituency and more importantly to achieve peace in the Federal Constituency.

Dr. Aboshi Echendu, who led a delegation from Abuja, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Ikeduru LGA chapter and Hon. Azubuike said that peace is priceless and remain an essential ingredient for social and economic development of every community that embrace it.

Echendu said “When people are united, work with one purpose and solve their conflicts amicably and peacefully the society will move forward and achieve successes that will benefit all”

He maintained that peace initiatives should be consolidated at Mbaike. This according to him will enable youths who are agents of development not to derail from being peaceful and civil.

In his remarks, the Majority Leader of Imo State House Assembly and member representing Ikeduru State Constituency, Hon. Teddy Ogwuike described the Summit as encouraging and kicked against what he described as “internet thuggery” or conflict among politicians and their supporters. He sued for civility in politics and in social activities.

Some of the youths who participated at the Summit such as Comrade Isdore Chukwuemeka of National Youth Council of Nigeria and Samuel Nwokocha hailed the motives of the peace summit. They said it is timely and will go a long way in improving the psyche and lives of the participants especially the youths for a peaceful, prosperous and successful Mbaike society.

They also hailed the organizer of the Summit, Hon. Henry Nwawuba and prayed that God will keep him and reward him to continue to impact positively on the lives of the people.

In his remarks, the organizer and initiator of the summit Hon. Henry Ndochukwu Nwawuba, who represents Ikeduru/Mbaitoli Federal Constituency told his constituents to continue to live in peace. He urged them to continue to value peace and cooperate with one another, adding that he will do more in improving the social and economic advancement of his constituency.
